History of Ponza

Ponza is the main island of the Pontine archipelago that includes: Ponza , Ventotene , Zannone , Palmarola , the island of St. Stefano and finally the small island of Gavi. This small archipelago is located twenty miles from the southern coast of Latium. The history of Ponza is very ancient as it is inhabited since Neolithic age, but its main centres born under the Volsci domination.
